Monday evening I got to bed late, hubby is out of town, I was moving around the bedroom to the light of the TV. Shadow was laying on the comforter, I picked him up to shake off the crumbs of miscellaneous stuff the cats seem to drag up on to the bed each day, then sat him back down near the foot of the bed, apparently the TV flickered and Shadow did one of those huge backward leaps cats are so good at... suddenly he is afraid of the comforter, so of course I have to twitch the corner of it.... he back leapt off the bed while I collapsed on the bed in a fit of laughter.I crawled under the comforter and settled in thinking the evenings antics were over.. he is 17 after all and play and nutzo time doesn't last very long any more... wrong... I heard a noise and looked into the bathroom.... he's freaked out by the hair dryer cord and doing the slow motions, creep toward it with paw extended to kill... but he missed, grabbing the edge of the rug and flipping it up towards himself... he did another huge leap backwards, right up onto the window sill and then from there did a 4 foot high vault out go the bathroom into the bedroom with out even touching the floor.
I jumped up and headed down the hall to get him to make sure he was ok... took him back to the bed with me ( which was covered by the evil comforter) and snugged him down in with me... then spent the next 20 minutes snickering, ever time I moved so much as a finger he would try to jump backwards but I had him wedged up against me so he couldn't go anywhere.... he finally settled down with the loudest most contented purr.... apparently he had a lot off built up energy...and it must have felt good to goof off for awhile.
