Watch the ball

Today, was the men's tennis singles finals at Wimbledon between Leighton Hewitt and a guy from Argentina. We were watching it on the television when Tanya, obviously troubled by the fact that she was not the centre of our attention, came over to see what was more interesting than her. The continuous movement on the TV screen immediately attracted her, so she decided to investigate it. However, because the TV was rather larger than her and unfamiliar, she decided to approach it with caution. She took up a position two feet in front of it, made herself as tall as possible while standing on four paws (which brought her face level with the bottom of the screen) and craned her neck towards it. She had just settled to watch the movement when WHACK!!!!! Hewitt hit the ball directly at her. Startled by the sound of the racquet hitting the ball and the speed of the ball as it flew towards her, Tanya immediately rocket propelled herself upwards while, at the same time, reversing at high speed. After coming to a halt, she gave herself a little lick in order to regain her composure, then, again, stepped forward to observe the movement. Hewitt, d**m him, hit the ball right at her again.

This time, it was all too much. Tanya rapidly sought refuge round the back of the TV.

Tomorrow, perhaps, she'll try cricket..
