We knew we had mice. We had found droppings, and chewed open bags of food in our cupboards. So we moved all the food out of those cupboards... and droppings are mostly gone (thank goodness). But Kid's been extra alert lately... and today sat patiently in front of closed cupboards for too long. I heard a *thunk* emanate from a cupboard. Oh crap. And boy did she jump when she heard that! Mice.So we open them up wide and take out containers and send the mouser in. Kid was all over that... skulking round. I left. About five minutes later *CRASH*... as I suspected: a pounce... I run into the kitchen and Kid is tearin' all over. She saw one. So Pete is bending over and looking and says "Get out of here now." "You see one?!" "Just leave." (he knows I'd squeal) "No, I want to see it!" "No, you don't want to see this." "She killed one?!"
Twop. (That's the sound of plastic container against cupboard).
Pete (DH) caught the mouse, alive. Pete is not a cat.
That's right - TWO cats on the case, and Pete caught the mouse in a container. He put a lid on it, and gave it to me. Tiny little gaffer - actually quite cute. So we fully documented it on video, and camera, with two hyper cats absolutely vibrating with excitement. Then we did the humane thing of walking about 3 blocks away to release the thing (me: "Just so hopefully it *doesn't* find its way 'home'").
I've never seen Kid so serious in her life.
And she is STILL circling the cupboards (about an hour later).
