CAT PHILES

Waltzing Matilda

Windy Getting Even

Since the moment Windy came to live with us she was allowed to cause havoc, and she had gotten used not to be yell at. I had already written about how costly her pranks were. But we not only felt sorry for her, but also she melted us with her feline innocent look. Not this time, though,

Let us recall that I found Windy at the front door. Abandoned possibly for one or two days, this little kitten was so hungry that she dared to mooch into the neighborhood macho tomcat's plate -- while he was eating!

I had to grab her before he reacted and attack her, and got her into the house. We had four cats already, five with an outside guest, Dálmata, the weather cat. And my brother put her out after she was generously fed.

Windy spent the whole night outside but early in the morning she was waiting by the patio porch door, where the moochers gather for breakfast everyday. She looked at me and disarmed me immediately. I took her in for good.

After this bit of reminiscence, I go to yesterday's story.

I was typing at the computer and Windy jumped on the table and promenaded all over the keyboard messing everything I had written, and pressing strange key combinations that change the setting of the computers, something that usually takes me a long time to fix.

"Windy!" I dared to yell at her, grabbed her and put her on a small table I keep next to the computer, where I usually I place a bottle of water.

Suffice to say that Windy didn't take it well. I wish I had a camera at hand. She stood up on the table her front paws wide open like a bulldog and a mad look on her face. Then she grabbed the bottle of water with her right paw and pushed it down to the floor.

Her look changed from mad to a defiant, "what are you going to do about it?" look. I couldn't help laughing my head off.

Cats!
